Newtonia is a very hard wood from Africa. The wood is a deep brown with a very distinctive deep purple/brown grain. It has a nice shine both due to its hardness and also from the polish and wax finish, and comes with a black and chrome clock face.
 
Wooden ball clocks are turned as a sphere on the lathe and then finished. Each clock comes with a rubber ring to sit on. The clock face pops out so that the time and battery can be changed when required.
